Book Review - 01
I always wanted to read books. But I am exhausted whenever I read a few pages and I will stop reading right there, not trying to complete the book. But certain books has caught my attention till the the last page's last letter pass through my eyes. But those books are very rare.
One of such books is Sanchaarathinte sangeetham written by K Jayakumar. This malayalam book is one among the very few books which I have bought for myself. This is a small book with around 170 pages.
The main reason I took this book was due to the author. K Jayakumar is a person whom I adore much. I came to know him through Safari channel's Charitram Enniloode. It may be a coincidence that his book's name also aligns with travel - travel through the memories of his lifetime. He is also an alumnus of my college - Mar Ivanios College Trivandrum. He is an IAS officer too. All these facts attracted me to this book.
Here, he draws the pictures of his life with words. He is depicting the life of an enthusiastic young man who travels through life. His childhood, his youth and his early career as snippets of time. A major portion of the book is devoted to describe his experiences during his civil service career. He keenly recollects the events and issues during his career. This book gives some life lessons which are worth knowing.
In this book the beauty of malayalam language has been embedded in a seemingly effortless manner. Some of the words here have almost faded from usage. It's very rare to see these words. Even some words are not available in the online malayalam dictionaries, which made me predict the meaning from the sentence and the scenario.
In toto, reading this book would be a cakewalk for someone who loves to read service stories. Here, the service stories are realistic and the author has been true to himself.
